Life with Zip
This spring has given me a jolt. Our dog Zip has sustained an injury to her back – no small matter for a 60 pound Basset Hound. She has limited use of her back legs now and we are all just broken up trying to decide what to do. But after some time and close observation, we are caring for her and relishing the special time we have with her.
Zip is a loving dog. She wants to be with us and happily manages to scoot to the kitchen or family room to be a part of the family action, even if it is only watching TV or getting dinner together. She still loves to sniff around the yard.
Her nemisis, a small rabbit, has returned this spring. Lucky for the rabbit, Zip probably won’t be a fearsome foe this year. Zip is very content to breathe the air and notice all the beautiful changes that have taken place this spring so far like the leaves gently opening on the trees and the fish surfacing in the ponds looking for food.
Maybe that is the key here. Just noticing things, just being here.
Zip doesn’t seem to be in any pain at all. She seems content for now to just be. As I am with her. Let’s just BE.

Dear Diane, Nice to hear about Zip, and all the goings on. As long as Zip is in no pain that’s great.
You mentioned the rabbits, my backyard is wonderful to watch I have a couple of rabbits, a ground hog who comes out every so often many squirrels who eat all the bird food I put out ( but like Uncle Rupert use to say they have to eat too.) and a beautiful red bird that comes all the time and he really makes me happy.
I checked out Alex and saw his Lacrosse pictures, they are nice;he sure is big. Tell him I was asking about him.
Hope you are all well, nice to hear what’s happening.
Regards to all, Aunt ‘Cille
